*A one off £20 joining fee is applicable on adult, joint and family memberships. Once that is paid and your monthly fee is set up, you are good to go! Should you need to ‘freeze’ your membership at any point, you can do so at any point for just a £10.00 monthly fee.
Membership Terms & Conditions
In these Terms and Conditions, unless the context otherwise requires, the following expressions have the following meanings: “XC Member” means any of the following and any revisions or additions of them:

Joint Climb Membership
Family Climb Membership
Adult Skate Membership
Junior Skate Membership
Junior Climb Membership
Concessions Climb Membership
Concessions Skate Membership
“We”, “Us” “Our” means XC. “You”, “Your” means the person or persons who become members of the XC Membership.
Each class of the XC Membership has its own eligibility criteria and when you first join as a member or should you choose to change your type of membership we will rely on you to provide us with complete and accurate information to ensure that you have the correct type of membership. If your circumstances change then we rely on you to update us. We will not be liable for any consequential loss or damage you may be caused by any failure on your part to provide us with accurate and up to date information that might affect either your eligibility for membership or your use of the facilities.
3. Payment Terms – EFT
Membership Fees may be paid using the following methods:
EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer);
BACS (invoices/missed payments only)
EFT recurring billing is done from an authorised debit or credit card. This is not a Direct Debit and does not carry the same guarantees. This must be set up in person at reception by the cardholder.
EFT billing is performed on the 1st of every month. If the billing date falls on a weekend or holiday the payments may be executed on the next business day.
If your payment is declined, new payment details need to be given within 5 working days or the membership may be terminated. Any declined payments will be outstanding and may be added to the member’s account for processing at the next billing date.
As your Membership Fees are paid by EFT and if you wish to change your card or the account used to pay, you must inform our team of the new card details and the date on which you wish the change to take effect. This must be done in person at reception by the cardholder. The number of membership fee payments required shall be determined by the type of membership you hold. Subject to the suspension provisions below, membership fees are payable throughout the period of membership irrespective of your actual use of the facilities. You may be denied access to the facilities whilst any membership fees or other sums due remain outstanding. In the event that membership fees remain unpaid for a period of more than 3 months, we may refer the matter to a third-party debt collection company.
Your membership is dependent on you maintaining payments of your monthly EFT and if any monthly EFT payment is not received on the due date for payment, then your membership will (except in exceptional circumstances and at our sole discretion) be automatically suspended until all due payments have been brought up to date. We reserve the right to cancel your membership if 3 or more monthly payments have not been received and the cancellation will take effect on the date you are notified.
4. Cancelling your membership
As you have opted for an EFT Subscription, we do not tie you to long term contracts and we allow our members to cancel their membership if we receive fair notice. For your membership to be cancelled you must give us at least 1-month notice, this must be done by emailing email@example.com. This cannot be done by phone or in person. Your membership will always expire at the end of the next calendar month. For example, if you serve 1 month on 8th June your membership will run until 31st July. Cancelling payments with your bank will not stop payments leaving your account.
5. Voluntary suspension of membership
Your membership may be suspended in the event of long-term illness, injury or pregnancy. If you wish to suspend your membership you should inform the team no later than 5 days prior to the start of the month in which you wish the suspension to take effect (“month” refers in this case to a membership billing period and not necessarily a calendar month). We may require a medical certificate, doctor’s note or similar proof of illness or other incapacity for the suspension of your membership.
Membership may be suspended at our sole discretion for non-medical reasons for a minimum period of one month up to a maximum period of three months. During such suspension, normal membership fees shall be replaced with a reduced monthly charge of £10.
6. Your times of use
Each type of membership at XC will offer different hours of use. These will be explained to you when you become a member and may be subject to variation for operational reasons.
7. General conditions
You will be provided with your personal non-transferable membership card which you must present to reception when using the facilities. If your membership card is used by anyone else with your knowledge or consent then we reserve the right in our sole discretion to charge you the full rate for the activity used, suspend your membership or cancel your membership without notice and no refund given for the period paid.
We constantly strive to improve your experience with our centres and as a result we will from time to time add to or change or withdraw the activities offered. We will try to give you as much warning as is possible but sometimes for operational reasons we are obliged to withdraw all or any part of the facilities for the periods where we need them for tournaments, exhibitions, competitions or other activities or in connection with any repair, alteration, maintenance work or safety issues. This may include partial or full closures of the facilities.
XC has its own centre rules and you are requested to familiarise yourself with these rules that are designed for the safety and wellbeing of all users. Failure to comply with the centre rules may result in suspension or cancellation of your membership entirely at our discretion and no refund given.
8. Grievance procedures
Any complaint or grievance should in the first instance be referred to the Duty Manager of the facility you are using. If the complaint or grievance cannot be resolved to your reasonable satisfaction at a local level then we request that you email full details of the complaint or grievance to firstname.lastname@example.org and the matter will be referred to a Senior Manager. In the unlikely event that the Senior Manager is unable to resolve your complaint or grievance then it will be referred to the Operations Director whose decision will be final.
9. Data Protection
We will not share your personal data with any third parties for any reasons without your prior consent. Such data will only be collected, processed and held in accordance with our rights and obligations arising under the provisions and principles of the General Data Protection Regulations 2018.
We reserve the right on giving you 14 days’ notice to amend or alter membership packages and these terms and conditions. We will display any changes or alterations on the relevant website www.thexc.co.uk.
These Terms and Conditions do not affect your statutory rights under consumer protection law.
12. No Waiver
No failure by us to enforce any provision in these Terms and Conditions shall constitute a waiver of the right to subsequently enforce that provision or any other provision of these Terms and Conditions. Such failure shall not be deemed to be a waiver of any preceding or subsequent breach and shall not constitute a continuing waiver.
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is held by any competent authority to be invalid or unenforceable in whole or in part, the validity of the other provisions of these Terms and Conditions and the remainder of the provision in question shall not be affected.
14. Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions (including any non-contractual matters and obligations arising therefrom or associated therewith) shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute, controversy, proceedings or claim between the Parties relating to these Terms and Conditions (including any non-contractual matters and obligations arising therefrom or associated therewith) shall fall within the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
XC boasts a 60 x 14m climbing wall, not for the faint hearted! Climbing is both mentally and physically challenging, it’s a great work out, builds confidence and will quickly develop muscular and core strength, endurance and flexibility. XC’s 880m2 wall consists of four very distinct areas suitable for beginners through to advanced climbers. A combination of Light wave, Cristalithe and Mozaik climbing systems are used and designed to challenge and eXCite even the most experienced of climbers. XC offers a wide choice of sessions for complete beginner to experienced. XC caters for Boulderers, Top Rope Climbers and Lead Climbers with 8 Auto Belays too. Routes are set weekly.
